Communication Policy
The best way to get in contact with your child's teacher is through the teacher's Wake County email address. Please allow 24-48 hours during the school week to receive a response. If you have a question or concern over the weekend, please allow 48 hours. Teacher contact information is located on the Core Classes tab.
WCPSS Grading Policy
Each core teacher has created their own grading policy. However, all 6th grade teachers will follow the WCPSS grading scale:
A - 90-100
B - 80-89
C - 70-79
D - 60-69
F - 59 and below
Grades will up uploaded to Powerschool. Powerschool allows students and parents to view previous grades from report cards, as well as grades in the current quarter for each class. Please allow teachers time to collect, score, and post grades. If it has been more than two weeks and a grade still seems to be posted incorrectly or a grade was improperly recorded, please email the core teacher. Once grades are entered into Powerschool, they are available immediately. If you have problems with the accuracy of a grade, contact the core teacher.
*If you have problems accessing the system, contact our guidance counselor.

Homework Policy
WCPSS recommends grades 6-8 to have 90 minutes a night for homework, plus 20 minutes of independent reading time. As a team, teachers will use Edmodo to schedule quizzes, tests, and projects to reduce an overload for the students. If homework is not completed in a timely manner, students will be expected to use Smart Lunch to complete it.
Late Work Policy
Assignments are expected to be turned in on time. However, we understand that circumstances arise. With that in mind, assignments turned in up to 5 days late will result in a drop of one letter grade and the student is Back On Team (Smart Lunch) to work on the assignment each day until it is turned in. An assignment that is turned in 6-10 days late will result in a drop of 2 letter grades and the student is Back On Team to complete the assignment each day until it is turned in. An assignment will not be accepted after 10 days and the grade of "0" will be recorded.
**Problems with technology, extra-curricular activities, etc. will not suffice for excuses.
